Badminton - Highland Industrial Supplies Shield

Two Glaitness badminton teams travelled down to Tain to compete for the Highland Industrial Supplies Shield. With 16 teams competing from all over the Highlands it looked as though there were going to be some very tough games.

Play started early at 9:30am in Tain High School. There were four groups of four teams, with each player playing a game of singles and doubles in each match. After the group matches, Glaitness A topped their group after beating a tough team from Inverness in the process. Glaitness B also did very well winning their games to top their group. This meant that Glaitness had both their teams in the semi final. Glaitness A won their semi to reach the final, while Glaitness B lost their semi to go in for the 3rd/4th playoff. Glaitness B played extremely well to win the game to come 3rd overall. Glaitness A were up against a very strong looking side from Holm in Inverness in the Final, they all played brilliantly to win this match on points after drawing 3-3 in matches, to win the shield.

Well done to all the kids for playing so well throughout the tournament, being so well behaved and doing Glaitness proud. Thanks to Alice Cant, Susie Rendall, Kristin Garriock and Rebecca Reid for helping me.
